Berkeley Blog Vacation

Tomorrow begins my week-long blog vacation which will be spent in sunny Berkeley, California.

Unfortunately, Barry won't be in town. However, the A's are and I'll see Oakland square off against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday evening.

I'm looking forward to my week on the Left Coast!

I have fond memories of Berkeley and the Bay Area. I spent a semester in the law school at Cal, and, while becoming increasingly convinced that I didn't really want to be a lawyer, fell in absolute love with the climate and the city. Berkeley is quite a place, unlike any other place I've ever been, and while it is identified as a bastion of liberalism, and the symbol of the whole "Left Coast" culture, I loved it because there's virtually no way to "not fit in" and it was, in 1980, one of the safest places in the country to live.
