I'm watching the Senate race in Georgia. Hard to believe that a Democrat could win state-wide in Georgia these days. Also watching to make sure that hometown guy Chet Edwards gets re-elected to the House.
Will be staying up late this evening to see how Prop 8 in California turns out.
Saxby is becoming an institution in Georgia. I definitely would not have placed a bet on a Dem winning state-wide in Georgia. It's Republican country. Heck, I bet those idiots would re-elect Bush if he could run again.
I see that Chet is up 10 with 1% in. I expect his win will be in double digits. In light of that, I was bothered that he went negative on Curnock from the get-go.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with you about Saxby "Shameless" and Bush. Those idiots would re-elect the man. I certainly didn't vote for Shameless nor would I vote for Bush. This thing is still scary. Obama isn't turning those red states very quickly.
Let's pray that all possible security measures have been taken in Chicago. I continue to fear for Obama's and his family's safety. It's just too scary to think about.
The old Confederacy is pretty solidly McCain. I wonder how much of that can be attributed to race. I have heard and seen much evidence to support race as a major issue.
No doubt that race was a factor. If the results in North Carolina and in Virginia don't reflect previous weeks polls, I'd suspect that race was a factor in that discrepancy. Political scientists will have the upcoming months to sort all that out.
The pollster trend had Georgia had 49.5 to 46.5 prior to the election. Right now, with 74% of precincts reporting, McCain is up 60% to 39% in Georgia. The polls definitely weren't even in the ballpark with Georgia. Wonder what role race played? My experiences in both North Georgia, Middle Georgia, and South Georgia tell me that race probably played a significant role in the voting behavior of quite a few Georgians.
R's always underrepresent in polls. They don't trust pollsters and won't answer questions, so it's harder to get them into the models. I think that's more likely what happened in Georgia than any kind of Bradley effect. It's socially acceptable to not vote for someone because of race in many parts of Georgia, so people don't have the incentive to lie.

Fox actually agrees with MSNBC on Pennsylvania
5:31 PM
I really want to see how Texas shakes out. I know we wont be blue, but the %s interest me.
5:34 PM
Sarah Palin hurt Pennyslvania... MSNBC. Suburbia smoked McCain.
5:38 PM
It's over. McCain can't win without Pennsylvania and NH.
Obama won Harris county in early voting. Very interesting - there's a shift there, just like Dallas county in 04/06.
5:40 PM
So much for GA. Chambliss wins handily.
5:43 PM
Not sure how I feel about Chucky Todd's purple tie....
5:48 PM
Chuck Todd is hot. For a political science geek.

Congrats

McLennan County is still out! Can we get it blue???
6:34 PM
:-( McLennan County officially went Republican.
6:54 PM
NYT has 1% for McLennan County, which probably just means the early vote totals. 60%ish for McCain.

South Dakota abortion ban fails, as does Colorado vote on defining the beginning of personhood.

GMM, I got a message from a friend who was at her fourth checkpoint to get into Grant Park. Security is very, very tight.
